Have to ask as my husband cant remember:
Was the media circus like this for President Bush?
Did he also do 10 balls?
Did Cheney dance with his wife?

I just wish they would act like we had a President elected (you know, like someone who has a job to do) and stop telling me what this and that celebrity had to say. I really could care less what Jolie or Oprah think (shocking I know). I understand enjoying the balls and the day and all, but let's get down to business.

Am I correct in that today is the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade? Because I heard rumors of some action happening on that.

It was never as celebritized (if that's a word) before.

I only watched the swearing in portion and none of the never ending interview with the people on the mall, or the celebrities.

I would say BHO is viewed like Princess Diana, and GWB was viewed like Queen Elizabeth.

I agree with MyKidsMom...let's get down to business,

No one knows what happened because the media completely ignored it. They were too busy following Clinton around as he was leaving. I think they were licking his shoes or something. It's been so long since they've had shoes to lick I guess they've gotten a little overexcited.

The comment above is too funny! I don't think so is my answer to all your questions....I just wish they would stop the hoopla too...

I never remember any new president being treated this way from the media. It's kinda scary.

It was very difficult to avoid any coverage. I wonder how our new president will enjoy life in a fishbowl?

Oh, I have an award for you.

Circus indeed, I get more disgusted every day. and we have 4 years of this to go....

Bush may have done the balls and the dancing, but I doubt it was covered with such excitement and vigor. They are treating the Obama like a rock star instead of President. I don't think that's a good thing. The office of the President should have some decorum.

Probably. The difference is (1) George and Laura Bush didn't snub the heroes at the military ball; and (2) George and Laura Bush didn't have filthy-mouthed rappers at the young people's ball.

The Bushes were a class act.

I don't really recall a bunch of Inaugural Balls for President Bush, however, I do remember the Oath and the election in general.
It was a very long week and I hardly slept at all because I stayed up watching the election/coverage.
